The Series 3 is a NASD license to sell futures and commodities investments.

License
This license is primarily for working in the Forex and futures exchange. Series 3 brokers work in the secondary market of these securities. You do not need a sponsoring firm to sit for this test. The exam can be studied on your own time and you will receive your license after the exam is passed.

Sample Question
A trader takes a long position of three contracts of silver. He sells the contracts after the price advances by 221/2 cents. The size of the contract is 5,000 ounces. The total commission on the three contracts is $125.
The trader’s profit is:
Answer: If the price advances 22 ½ cents, the total profit would be $ 3375 (15,000 ounces times 0.225). As the commission on the three contracts is $125, the net profit after deducting commission is $3,250.
